Chula Vista, CA – Two Dead in Wrong-Way Crash on I-5 at Palomar St.

Chula Vista, CA (April 10, 2024) – Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash that took place in Chula Vista on Wednesday morning, April 10th. The crash happened just after 3:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Freeway near the intersection with Palomar Street.

According to a CHP report, a red Honda was traveling 75 to 80 miles per hours in the wrong direction of I-5. The wrong-way driver collided head-on with another vehicle that was traveling southbound. The Chula Vista Police Department arrived at the scene and found the Honda driver unconscious inside the vehicle. Both the Honda driver and the driver of the other vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Neither of the drivers were identified by authorities. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time. There is no additional information available.
